
2019 Asia Preparatory meeting on UN Mechanisms and Procedures Relating to Indigenous Peoples was held in Sabah, Malaysia on 4-7 March. There are more than hundred representatives from different Asia countries such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippine, Sri-Lanker, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand. The meeting was organised by Asia Indigenous Peoples Pack(AIPP), PACOST Trust, JOAS and also supported by IWGIA, Land Rights Now, Swedish International Development Agency and Tamalpals Trust. The topic disscussed in the meeting are
1.Traditional knowledge: Generation, transmission and protection
2. Indigenous Peoples’ Rights in the context of borders, migration n displacement and recognition, reparations and reconciliation
3.Plans of the special rapporteur in the rights of Indigenous Peoples
4. Recommendations for World Conference on Indigenous Peoples
5. Recommendations at the International Fund for Agriculture Development(IFAD)
6. Sharing on CEDAW, UPR and CRED.
7. Business and Human Rights
8. 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)
9. Information sharing on UN Framework for Climate Change Conference
(UNFCCC)
10. Land Rights Now Campaign
11. Indigenous Peoples Human Rights Defenders Fund (IPHRDs Fund) and

There are (6) representatives attended from different organizations of Myanmar IPs organizations such as IP/EN Myanmar, Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO), Promotion on Indigenous Peoples and Nature Together, POINT. Mr.Saw George and Nulun Nga Ngai as representatives of Indigenous Peoples/ Ethnic Nationalities (IP/EN) from Myanmar.
