- To increase the participation of Kuki Women in the process of building peace and a federal democracy, and to support the Union peace process through peaceful coexistence.
- To link with other farmers’ groups after the kuki farmers’ league is established ; to protect the environment by promoting Kuki customary land ownership, and prevent unwanted conflict and human rights violations caused by projects.
- To increase cooperation with local groups in villages in Tamu, Khamti, and Tonzang districts , to increase understanding among women, men and youth about violence against women and women’s rights , in order to reduce violence and discrimination, and promote justice .
- To reform customary laws and practices so that women’s rights are respected, with regard to violence against women, women’s political representation, inheritance rights, and sons’ and daughters’ ownership rights.

Back Ground
Back ground of the Kuki Women’s Human Rights Organization KWHRO was formed in 2000 by some women who had fled to moreh, in manipur state of India, after the mass demonstrations in 1988. In 2004 , KWHRO became a member of the Women’s League of Burma , which was base in Thailand , joining with other ethnic women’s groups to struggle for federal democracy, women’s rights, and human rights. In May 2014 , due to a slight improvement in the political situation in Burma, KWHRO opened an office in Tamu, Sagaing Region, and has recently opened another office in Homalin.
Our GOAL
KWHRO’s goal is to establish a stable, secure society , where women can take leading roles at every level, and to work as a strong organization for the development of the Kuki peoples within a genuine federal democracy .
Our AIMS
- To Develop the lives of Kuki women, who have been oppressed for generations, and to bring an end to traditional gender discrimination
- To enable women in our border area to carry out their livelihoods peacefully, with physical security
- To document and publicize human rights violations committed in our Kuki area
